People with Developmental Disabilities are finding productive, fulfilling jobs in the community these days, thanks to a program we call "Supported Employment", and thanks to hundreds of employers just like you. Supported Employment provides our workers with the training, skills, and support they need -- custom tailored to your job site. All at no extra cost to you. |

A trainer, or "Job Coach", is a vital part of the Supported Employment plan. When you hire a worker from Contra Costa ARC, one of our Job Coaches reports to work with the new employee, learning the job right alongside them. People with Developmental Disabilities usually need more time to learn than your standard training provides. So during this period, the coach provides the extra reinforcement and encouragement our workers need to succeed. A coach stays on the job until all tasks are mastered to your specifications. After training is complete, coaches continue to visit the job site, helping your new employee become a respected, productive member of the workforce. |

Derek worked with Dennis for six months to help him "get up to speed" in his job of taking tickets and cleaning the theater. Derek gradually reduced his training hours on site, and now sees Dennis only once or twice a week, just to make sure things are going well. |
