Having a child with special needs can seem overwhelming at times and you may be facing challenges that are difficult to cope with alone. Talking with someone who has "been there" can provide support to assist you as you face those challenges. We invite you to request a connection to a trained Mentor Parent. Mentor Parents volunteer to provide support to other parents and have had special training. You can request a Mentor Parent whose child's special needs are similar to your child. Volunteer Mentor Parents have much to offer in the way of practical support and tips on raising a child with special needs. Mentor Parents can provide a "listening ear" when you just need to talk. They also understand the system of services available to families and can assist you in identifying your needs and directing you to appropriate services. If you are interested in talking with a Mentor Parent, please contact the Family Support Coordinator at 925-313-0999, ext. 101. If you are interested in becoming a Mentor Parent you may download and complete the application below. The application includes submission intructions. |
